Oyster 36M. A New Generation Flagship Model
British shipyard Oyster Yachts has announced the new 36-meter Oyster 36M flagship, which will combine ocean-going performance with the luxury of a custom yacht. Oyster Yachts and Frers Naval Architecture & Engineering, which collaborated on the design of the composite sailboat, have explored several deck layouts, sail rig, and interior configurations.
A deep-V bow and wide aft contours will ensure the Oyster 36M’s stability in waves. The hull will be constructed from Oyster’s proprietary composite material: vinylester and epoxy resins, reinforced fiberglass, and carbon fiber to strengthen stressed areas. The upper structure (above the waterline) utilizes a lightweight and durable sandwich structure with lightweight core, providing rigidity and thermal insulation.
The deck layout includes a bow relaxation area called Forward Retreat, which can be configured as a lounge or optionally as a Jacuzzi, and an innovative beach club aft. From the expansive cockpit, guests first access a two-level sundeck and then “The Island” platform: a hydraulic transom section that can be lowered below sea level or raised to create a terrace above the waves. An aft garage below deck accommodates a tender, jet skis, and diving and watersports equipment.
For the Oyster 36M’s interior, designed by Oyster Yachts in collaboration with Milan-based studio m2atelier, a flexible, semi-custom concept was chosen. All living areas are located on a single level: the main saloon with panoramic glazing and the aft cockpit are seamlessly connected and separated by a sliding glass partition. The yacht is designed in three-, four-, and five-cabin configurations, with the master cabin equipped with a desk, walk-in closet, and a spacious bathroom with double vanities.
