A true hidalgo: sports version of Hispano-Suiza Carmen
Almost every country has a legendary brand that has been trying for years to revive. The Spanish nation is Hispano Suiza.
Literally reborn from the ashes, the Spanish company Hispano Suiza at the last year’s Geneva Motor Show introduced its new Carmen model, named after the mother of the founder of the newly created company Miguel Mateu. But the Spaniards did not stop at the 2019 electric coupe, and the Hispano-Suiza Carmen Boulogne modification, sporty and refined at the same time, was called to help.
Unique Tailormade’s own individualization department did a fair amount of work: they even managed to illuminate the brand’s history. The name of the special version is intended to recall the triumphal victories of the open H6 models in 1921, 1922 and 1923 in the races around Boulogne, and the special design with copper accents – about kinship with famous sports ancestors.
The first racing version of Hispano Suiza H6B Boulogne appeared in 1922, its seven-liter inline “six” produced about 150 hp, accelerating the car to 200 km / h in a straight line. In total, there were only 5 copies.
The modern Hispano-Suiza Carmen Boulogne is comparable to the Bugatti Chiron coupe: the torque of the modified sports car reaches 1600 Nm, and two electric motors on the rear axle with differentiated traction distribution produce 1114 hp. instead of 1019. The widespread use of carbon fiber reduced the mass of cars from 1690 kg to 1630 kg. As a result, up to a hundred Carmen accelerates in 2.6 s, but the top speed is “only” 290 km / h. But the traction battery at 80 kW / h with autonomy of 400 km has not received any improvements.
Suspensions are located on double wishbones, and carbon-ceramic brake rotors with six-piston Radi-CAL calipers are front and rear.
Carbon fiber body panels were coated only with transparent varnish, therefore directional fibers are visible to the naked eye. The car is richly decorated with copper, both inside and outside, and under the spectacular exterior hides a 195 kg carbon fiber monocoque with a bolted subframe made of the same material.
And finally, it is worth knowing that the circulation of the car is extremely small: the coupe performed by Boulogne will appear only in the amount of 5 pieces, which will go to customers in 2022. By the way, the same number of Hispano Suiza H6B Boulogne sportcars was released in 1922, exactly 100 years ago. That’s just now Carmen Boulogne is worth several times more – 1.65 million euros.
