Bat wing: Thundertruck electric SUV
The creative agency Wolfgang LA has unveiled an electric SUV with a futuristic look called the Thundertruck. According to the developers, the electric vehicle promises “superior performance on the road and off-road” and “a whole new level of functionality” with zero emissions.
Thundertruck was developed during the first coronavirus lockdown, where designers used their automotive industry expertise for this radical concept. “When we first encountered Covid, people were looking for different ways to take their time. Instead of baking bread or solving puzzles, we decided to create a new modern electric car, ”the designers explain.
Thundertruck has already been dubbed by many as a potential competitor to another SUV from Tesla, but the latter’s main difference is the use of solar energy thanks to an integrated design of flexible solar cells. Foldable solar-powered batwing awnings fold out over the vehicle to be charged by the sun. Their power is enough not only to charge a car battery, but also to power built-in equipment, such as a refrigerator, induction cooker or air conditioner. In addition, the structure can serve as an awning, providing shade if, for example, you are out on a picnic or fishing.
Thundertruck features include a 180 kWh battery and a range of 650 kilometers and an output of 800 hp. and 1085 N⋅m of torque will be enough to accelerate to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds. An additional module, which consists of a 120 kWh battery and a two-wheel base, allows you to turn a 4×4 SUV into a truck with an enlarged 6×6 platform. The power reserve will be 900 kilometers in this version. Interestingly, this module is easy to attach and detach, so the transformation does not require much effort.
“When we did our initial research, we quickly noticed a gap in the future of the electric vehicle market. More than 30 electric vehicles, which will be presented over the next few years, have practically no pickups in the lineup. And those that do exist look ordinary and boring, ”says the Wolfgang team.
