EXTRA X70 SHADOW. A Versatile Yacht
The Extra Yachts brand was launched in 2017 as part of the Palumbo Superyachts group, which today includes, in addition to Extra, Columbus Yachts and ISA. The key concept underlying the brand is “extra capabilities.” The shipyard emphasizes not speed, a striking exterior, or other marketing cues, but rather, impressive interior volumes, which create exceptional onboard comfort. Another aspect is the extensive customization available, although in some cases, several pre-designed layouts are offered.
One of the latest additions from EXTRA Yachts is the X70 Shadow project—a 21-meter fiberglass yacht with a planing hull. The project was conceived as a support vessel for the main yacht, enabling guests to be quickly transported from onboard to shore and back, while also providing additional usable space and capabilities.
Despite its compact dimensions, the available space is impressive. Aft, directly on the water, is a platform of over 40 square meters. Depending on the configuration, it can accommodate a 5.20-meter jet ski and two motorcycles. If needed, this area can be converted into a lounging space with freestanding furniture, providing additional onboard flexibility.
There is also a large covered storage area of approximately 15 square meters, which can accommodate Seabobs, surfboards, SUPs, and a variety of water toys. This space can even be converted into a gym for the mothership’s crew or guests.
A few steps lead to a spacious cockpit with a large social area, an open galley, and a dining area that converts into a lounge. Folding bulwarks improve visibility and increase deck space.
The forward section houses the wheelhouse and an enclosed dining area with 360-degree panoramic views. The lower deck offers two different layouts: the “shadow” version includes two crew cabins with en-suite bathrooms, a galley with a crew mess, and one or two guest cabins from the mothership. The “pleasure” version allows the X70 to be used as a standalone yacht with four guest cabins, each with an en-suite bathroom.
The yacht is powered by two Volvo Penta IPS D13 1350 engines, each producing 1,000 hp, enabling a top speed of 30 knots and a cruising speed of 26 knots.
Each Extra Yachts yacht is largely unique. Collaborations with innovative designers, experienced engineers, and a commitment to a consistent vision make this brand truly unique.
