Ferretti Group and Sanlorenzo unites for Perini Navi
Two leading yacht builders have announced their joint venture named NewCo. Each side will own 50 percent. Thus, they want to acquire Perini Navi’s brands, assets and manufacturing facilities to save it from bankruptcy. This step will ensure the restoration of the sailing yard.
“This is an important day for the Italian yachting industry, for the Perini Navi employees and their families. This ensures that the experience and unique skills will continue to be applied. The relationship with the Perini Navi suppliers will continue and will continue to work with confidence,”said Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi. “At the Ferretti Group we always strive for excellence and opportunities for collaboration with other manufacturers. And we often find them in Italy, as happened this time. We are confident that our actions will lead to the further development of the industry and we will be able to bring value and prestige to the Italian shipbuilding industry. I would also like to underline the historic significance of the alliance with Sanlorenzo, reflecting the new spirit of cooperation that has swept Italy: a positive expansion of our horizons, which will allow us to seize even more opportunities and achieve even greater success. ”
“I started my professional career in the yachting industry in Viareggio, in the same place and in the same year that Perini Navi first started out,” added Massimo Perotti from Sanlorenzo. “It was back in 1983 and since then I have always admired the business model adopted by this wonderful brand. Sailboats of outstanding quality, built exclusively to order for a limited number of owners and connoisseurs. These are the same features that we value so much at Sanlorenzo and I am delighted to be able to do this together with the Ferretti Group. This is an alliance of historic importance to our industry and I am confident that it will continue to evolve and serve as an example for other initiatives to strengthen the industry. ”
