The new Ferretti Yachts 720. Updates for greater comfort

The world premiere of the updated Ferretti Yachts 720 took place in January of this year at the Boot Düsseldorf show. This yacht is the result of collaboration between the Product Strategy Committee, headed by Pierre Ferrari, and the Ferretti Engineering Department. The design solutions and distinctive details of the previous generation confirm the brand’s evolutionary path, initiated through collaboration with architect Filippo Salvetti, who designed the exterior, and IdeaeItalia, who designed the interior, and give shape to spacious, bright, and functional spaces.

Among the new features of the updated 22.5-meter-long, 5.60-meter-wide model are a heightened emphasis on onboard comfort, optimized space, significantly increased storage capacity, and a host of technical innovations aimed at improving performance, efficiency, and navigational safety.

The Ferretti Yachts 720’s exterior design features a redesigned side profile, which, thanks to a reinterpretation of the bulwarks and increased glass surfaces in the saloon and owner’s cabin, emphasizes the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces and enhances interior lighting. A new hardtop has been designed to increase shaded areas.

MAIN DECK

Moving from the main deck transom, a fold-out sofa opens up, facing the sea (a sofa is available as an option). Two staircases lead from here to the spacious cockpit, where the outdoor dining area offers unrivaled al fresco relaxation.

The saloon is accessed through a three-panel glass door: a hinged door on the left side, which opens when underway, and two sliding panels that slide to the right. This configuration allows for a full opening towards the cockpit, creating continuity between the interior and exterior.

Upon entering the salon, guests are greeted by two large sofas upholstered in exquisite fabrics, with built-in storage inspired by larger boats, enhancing the living area’s comfort. A coffee table by Bonaldo can be added as a finishing touch. A retractable television can be positioned behind the starboard sofa, providing a discreet and elegant entertainment option.

Two trim styles are available: Classic, reminiscent of warm earthy elements, and Contemporary, inspired by the colors of the sea, gleaming woods, and fresh fabrics. Both options, executed in impeccable Italian style, offer the owner an elegant and harmonious ambiance.

At the center of the main deck, on the port side, is a dining area that seats up to eight guests around an elegant table, while on the opposite side, a storage cabinet combines practicality, style, and absolute comfort.

Continuing along the main deck, we note a key innovation: the clear separation of the dining and living areas, as well as the galley and wheelhouse. This was made possible by the installation of a sliding glass door and, as an additional feature, an electrically operated glass panel that lowers and raises the door to the galley. The result is a semi-enclosed space, guaranteeing greater privacy and comfort onboard. The galley has access to the deck on the port side, designed to allow crew members to move freely around the yacht without interfering with the main living areas.

New features in the helm include a pillar-less windshield, a brand hallmark, for maximum visibility, and up to four 16-inch displays at the helm. New helm seats enhance the space, and the glass panels are additionally equipped with infrared protective films that reduce solar radiation and allow for more efficient use of the air conditioning. The helm’s electronic systems have been upgraded for improved responsiveness. A fully equipped lounge area forward features a low-slung sofa, sunpad, and optional teak table, offering outdoor relaxation options for the owner and guests.

LOWER DECK

The lower deck features four comfortable cabins: one master cabin and one VIP cabin, both with en-suite bathrooms, as well as two twin cabins, with the port cabin offering the option of pull-out beds.

The master stateroom features a vanity with a simple, understated design, while on the opposite side is a comfortable sofa next to a walk-in closet. The walk-in closet is located behind the headboard and separated from the rest of the space by a sliding door; it adjoins the bathroom. These spaces form a space separating the stateroom from the engine room and providing a high level of sound insulation. Significantly increased storage space provides an optimal balance between functionality and elegance.

The VIP stateroom has its own bathroom, while the two twin staterooms share a bathroom accessible from both the starboard guest stateroom and the corridor, which also features additional storage compartments. A double crew cabin has a private bathroom. There is also a small laundry room, accessible directly from the cockpit, combining functionality and practicality to optimize work onboard.

UPPER DECK

The flybridge covers 41 m² and is accessible via a convenient staircase from the starboard cockpit. The dining area occupies the central portion of the port side, featuring a large sofa around an extendable table with a teak top and stainless steel legs. Aft of the dining area is a practical bar counter, which can be equipped with a grill, ice maker, and refrigerator.

To starboard is the helm station, equipped with a chair, with the option of a second chair. This space is complemented by a new storage module integrated into the helm seating base, specifically designed to increase storage capacity in this area.

At the extreme forward end of the flybridge is a large sunpad spanning the entire width of the hull, while the aft terrace can be furnished with freestanding furniture, creating a versatile and inviting space.

The flybridge is shaded by a two-tone hardtop, which can be equipped with adjustable slats (as on the first boat) or a fixed glass window, providing protection in all weather conditions.

ENGINES, PROPULSION SYSTEM, AND TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

The Ferretti Yachts 720 can be equipped with a pair of MAN V8 – 1200 mHp engines in the standard version (maximum speed of 28 knots and cruising speed of 24 knots) or a pair of MAN V12 – 1400 mHp engines in the standard version (maximum speed of 32 knots and cruising speed of 28 knots). Preliminary data.

The mooring system has been updated and improved: the traditional double anchors of Ferretti Yachts models, larger in size, are combined with stronger chains, increasing safety and reliability when anchoring. Trim control has also been improved, thanks to the integration of more sensitive trim tabs and a Seakeeper gyroscopic stabilizer. The NG10 system and the WATCHIT Anti-Grounding System, used by Ferretti Yachts since 2022, are available for installation.
