Frauscher Record in Monaco! A new era of electromobility on the water
The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom set an impressive example at this year’s Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, completing the course at a record average speed of 49.84 knots.
The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge is considered one of the most important international platforms for showcasing innovations in the maritime sector. The aim of the event is to test zero-emission propulsion technologies under real-life conditions: efficiency, speed and range in practical use.
In the speed category, the average speed is measured over two 1-kilometre courses – a format that is as close as possible to everyday use on the water. The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom confidently defeated top-notch international competitors and set a new absolute record in the history of the competition.
The 8.67-metre boat is equipped with the same twin-engine powertrain as the new electric Porsche Macan Turbo. We are talking about 400 kW, or 536 horsepower, slightly less than the SUV, which, thanks to the Launch Control function, develops up to 639 hp. In Sport Plus mode, the electric boat accelerates to 90 km / h (49 knots), but during the run in Monaco, the average speed was 92 km / h (50 knots), which set a new benchmark in its class.
The hull design was borrowed from the Frauscher 858 Fantom, to which Porsche added its own electric drive and batteries. The collaboration between the companies combined Porsche’s engineering excellence with Frauscher’s boatbuilding expertise, resulting in a truly exceptional new-generation watercraft. The basic version of the boat is designed in the Runabout style: a closed bow deck and a small cabin below give it classic sophistication. However, an Air version is also available, which has an open lounge area at the front and a centrally located steering wheel.
The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom and Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom AIR are available in a limited edition of 25 units.
