Lotus Marina. Sustainable Yacht Marina Project

German studio Structurelab Architects has unveiled a concept for an innovative modular marina designed for the Calanques de Sormiou, one of the largest bays in the south of France.
The 400-square-meter floating structure called Lotus Marina consists of several modules that can be used as hotel rooms, commercial spaces, or outdoor areas. An outdoor restaurant at the water’s edge will be the main attraction for yachts, while an event space and a bar will be located in the center of the complex.
The designers promise that technologies that do not harm the ecosystem of the seabed will be used to hold the platform in place, and the space itself will be equipped with solar panels and a rainwater collection and recycling system to minimize energy and water consumption. The structures will be made from recyclable materials.
The Lotus Marina is designed for yachts up to 24 meters long, but according to designer Jurgen Schubert, it is easily scalable and can be used in other regions.
The concept was first submitted as an entry to the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous competition organised by Monaco Marina Management.
