MAGURA V5 – Ukrainian maritime drone
The International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2023) is being held at the Tuyap Fair and Exhibition Center in Ankara from 25 to 28 July this year. The exhibition is organized by the Turkish Armed Forces Support Foundation (TSKGV) under patronage of the President of the State. During the event, more than 1000 companies from 50 countries of the world. These include new weapons, military equipment, aviation and space systems, security and communications systems. They also demonstrated a Ukrainian military development – the MAGURA V5 marine drone.
MAGURA V5 is a robotic vehicle and is intended primarily for reconnaissance work at sea, as well as for combating mines on the water, performing search and rescue works. It is possible to use a drone to patrol the port waters, as well as to conduct military operations. The V5 hydrodynamic hull and sleek profile allow it to move in stealth with superior maneuverability. Тhe developers say “It’s an affordable solution that’s easy to run from any remote location. The unmanned control of the V5 minimizes the need for human resources to carry out missions, reducing potential mortality when operating in difficult conditions”.
The characteristics of the water drone are impressive: 5.5 meters long, 1.5 meters wide. It can move at a height of 500 mm above the waterline and develops a cruising speed of up to 22 knots. The maximum possible speed, declared by the manufacturer of the drone, is up to 42 knots. It can be controlled at a distance of up to 833 kilometers, and the device is capable of carrying cargo weighing up to 320 kg. The engineers also used a mesh radio with an air repeater. Satellite communications are also available.
