In 2027, the largest expedition yacht in the world, REV Ocean, will enter the charter market, with a length of 194.9 meters. The construction of the vessel started at the Norwegian shipyard Vard back in 2017 and, at the design stage, the length was 182.9 meters. In 2021, work was suspended due to technical problems. At the same time, the shipyard stated that the vision of the vessel remains unchanged, but work needs to be done to improve its functionality and reduce weight. In 2023, it became known about the agreement reached.

The length of REV Ocean will be increased by 12 meters, and some steel elements will be replaced with lighter materials; some areas will be modified, the layout will be revised to provide more space for scientists and researchers.

Since the main task of REV Ocean is to conduct various oceanographic research, the vessel is planned to be equipped with the most modern equipment. For example, a variety of different sensors and detectors for studying the underwater world and its inhabitants, the data from which scientists will process in laboratories right on board. The construction of the giant expedition vessel is being completed by the Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen shipyard. The company has signed a contract to equip this yacht. REV Ocean will not only change the idea of yachting, but will also open up new horizons for those who are ready for unforgettable adventures.

More than just a vessel, REV Ocean is a global platform that combines unique travel experiences with opportunities for ocean exploration and marine conservation. By integrating scientific research with expeditions, REV Ocean sets a new standard for how yachting can transform the guest experience, offering unique access to the rarest and most exciting opportunities. Every journey on board this yacht will not only be an incredible adventure, but also an important contribution to the protection of our planet.

REV Ocean’s exterior was designed by Espen Øino International, with interiors by H2 Yacht Design. As a result, on board will be: the world’s deepest-diving acrylic submersible, providing unprecedented access to the ocean; ROV Aurora, a remotely operated vehicle capable of diving to depths of 6,000 meters; autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs); two helipads; an in-house workshop for the manufacture and repair of equipment and a diving centre fully equipped for diving in a variety of locations and conditions.

On board, travellers will not only find amazing opportunities for exploration, but also comfortable conditions: 18 spacious guest cabins, a unique auditorium for presentations and exclusive scientific projects in which everyone can take part.

According to preliminary data, during research missions the vessel is capable of taking on board up to 60 scientists and 30 crew members. In case of using it for private expeditions, it is planned to accommodate up to 36 guests, who will be served by a team of 54 people.

In addition, REV Ocean offers comfort and entertainment at the highest level: luxurious lounges, SPA, tennis and swimming. Each new place on the route, be it the icy expanses of Antarctica, the ecosystems of the Galapagos or the cleanest waters of the Indian Ocean, will give you an unforgettable experience.

Diesel-electric propulsion, energy recovery and exhaust gas cleaning systems, fuel efficiency – the main task of REV Ocean is to minimize the negative impact on the environment.

REV Ocean is not just a yacht. It is a chance to become part of a global initiative to explore and preserve the ocean.
