Two months before the start: yacht shows on the French Riviera
There are two months left before the start of the season of yacht shows on the Cote d’Azur, so the entire industry looks forward to these events with bated breath. The first major event to open after the Covid-19 pandemic should be the Cannes Yachting Festival from 7 to 12 September in the Old Port and Pierre Canto Port. And from September 22-25, the most significant superyacht show Monaco Yacht Show will open its doors at the Monaco Yacht Club. More details below.
Cannes Yachting Festival 2021
In addition to the difficulties caused by the pandemic, the Cannes Yachting Festival had to face other kinds of problems. Over the past few years, the organizers of RX France, also known as Reed Expositions France, have been suing the French Federation of the Boating Industry (FIN) for the right to run the festival. After the victory in court, they with renewed vigor took up the organization of the event. This year it is expected that the Festival will bring together about 500 representatives of the French and international yachting industry. There are 560 motor boats from 3 to 45 meters, which will be exhibited on water and on land in the Old Port, as well as 150 sailing boats in Pierre Canto.
This year, in order to enter the exhibition area, each guest or participant will need to register online in advance, and then scan the received QR code at the entrance. You can have it both in printed form and on your smartphone screen. There will be no box office at the entrances to the show, so tickets will also be sold exclusively online.
As the Cannes Yachting Festival is constantly evolving, new and interesting projects await all guests this year. For the first time, the Innovation Space exposition will be organized on the territory of the exhibition. In this space, guests will be invited to familiarize themselves with startups for the maritime industry that are distinguished by innovative technologies or services. They can form the basis of a more modern, technologically advanced and at the same time sustainable yachting of the future. Also this year, the Pantiero area in Vieux Port will be 100% dedicated to electric and hybrid boats from 8 to 12 meters in length.
Since the safety of participants and visitors is one of the priorities of the Yacht Festival, the organizers will set aside a special “area” behind the Jetée exposition for sea tests. This will also help to reduce the flow of guests to the entrances of the Old Port, as they can quickly and immediately go to the open sea.
Monaco Yacht Show 2021
The organizers of the superyacht show in Monaco have also prepared a lot of changes. This year’s Monaco Yacht Show will feature a new format that will target potential clients. The exhibition will aim to offer buyers or guests who wish to charter a superyacht the most convenient “schedule”, privacy and a positive visiting experience in general.
The organizers have confirmed that at least 300 exhibitors will attend MYS 2021. They also announced that at least 60 superyachts will be on display at the show, including some 40 premieres announced.
At the port of Hercule, on the main stage of the show, a new area will appear called the Dockside Area. This part of the exhibition will be dedicated to companies that are directly involved in the construction, management or management of superyachts and tenders, and therefore will be open exclusively to a certain category of visitors. Dockside Area fits perfectly into the existing exposition, because each area of the exhibition is presented with its own theme.
This year, MYS visitors will see two more updated exhibits. The first one will be dedicated to sailing ships and will be held on the l’Hirondelle promenade. And the second, called the Center for Design and Innovation, will not only allow high-quality presentations of yacht projects, but also give the visitor an opportunity to communicate with designers.
