MERCEDES-BENZ VISION ICONIC. An unconventional approach to design
Mercedes-Benz unveiled the Vision Iconic concept car, featuring a transparent Art Deco-style dashboard, photovoltaic bodywork, and autopilot.![]()
The new Vision Iconic combines 1930s design with modern technologies, such as a neuromorphic autopilot system, solar panels on the body, a steer-by-wire system, and a futuristic interior. The car symbolizes a new era in Mercedes-Benz design and technology and is certainly not intended for series production.![]()
The front of the car is adorned with the signature Mercedes-Benz grille, inspired by classic models such as the W 108 and the Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman. The grille features integrated LED lighting.![]()
The interior combines Art Deco styling with modern technology. Key elements include a floating, transparent Zeppelin dashboard, a sofa-like seat upholstered in blue velvet, and exquisite mother-of-pearl details.
The eco-friendliness of this concept is noteworthy. The developers used a special photovoltaic coating on the body that converts solar energy into electricity. Energy consumption can be reduced by up to 90% compared to traditional systems. Additional solar charging can increase the range by up to 12,000 km per year under optimal conditions.![]()
The Vision Iconic is equipped with Level 4 Autopilot, which can provide fully automated driving on highways and parking without driver intervention. The steering system uses steer-by-wire technology, which eliminates direct mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels.
In addition to the Vision Iconic, Mercedes-Benz unveiled a capsule fashion collection. Six outfits created for men and women reflect the car’s Art Deco-inspired color scheme and luxurious materials. The collection combines vintage aesthetics with contemporary style.
