New hypercar McLaren W1

McLaren has unveiled its new W1 car, which should not be called a supercar, but a hypercar. It is the best of what the company has to offer today.
A carbon monocoque frame, combined with aluminum suspension parts and a “gull wing” door with built-in windows. To the uniqueness of McLaren W1 is added hybrid engine: 4-liter gasoline V8 with twin turbines and an additional electric motor together produce 1275 hp of power – and this value immediately makes McLaren W1 the most powerful road car in the history of the company!
But no all-wheel drive: the company honors the tradition of sports cars with rear-wheel drive. True, there is an active rear differential and 8-speed robot box. And also a suspension with the possibility of changing the clearance and carbon-carbon brake disks with 6-piston calipers in front. The result? 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, 100-0 km/h braking in 29 meters, top speed of 350 km/h.
Separately it is worth noting the incredibly complex aerodynamics. Air channels are placed behind the front wheels of McLaren W1 and on the sides of the body. In front there is a double splitter, and behind – a movable antifender: it not only changes the angle of attack, but also can move away by 300 mm, going beyond the dimensions of the car.
It is interesting that in the cabin of McLaren W1 taki possibilities of adjustment are not provided: the seats of the driver and passenger are clearly fixed in one position.
position. How else then to choose the necessary landing? By adjusting the steering wheel and pedal assembly – that’s the kind of unusual ergonomics not found in conventional cars.
not found in ordinary cars, but occasionally found in supercars and hypercars. So the McLaren W1 is a real hypercar; that confirms and the company-manufacturer itself, designating the novelty as a descendant of other own models 1-series: McLaren F1 and McLaren P1.
The cost of the car is already known – $2.1 million, which is quite a bit for a hypercar of this class. But don’t rush to buy it: only 399 McLaren W1 cars are planned to be produced and there is no doubt that all of them have pre-orders from the company’s regular customers.
