Royal Huismal PHI: on the home stretch
The history of this 58-meter yacht PHI at Royal Huisman is closely watched by the entire yachting community, and the process of her construction is very vivid and memorable. Firstly, this yacht was the first model to come off the stocks of the new dock in Vollenhove, Netherlands. PHI also became the longest motor yacht Royal Huisman under the current classification rules.
PHI was created by Cor D. Rover, who was responsible for the concept, exteriors and interior layout of this yacht. While working on this project, the designers relied on the golden ratio, and they also focused on three elements: the galaxy, the ocean surface and the underwater world. The interior design and style of PHI, which is still largely classified, was created by London studio Lawson Robb.
The naval architecture was created by Van Oossanen Naval Architects. The designed Fast Displacement XL hull allows this yacht to have elongated lines and appear larger than it is, while remaining below the 500 GT mark. Such contours of the hull, combined with its low and smoothed profile, challenge the designers. But with a wealth of experience and track record in building superyachts, Royal Huisman is not at all afraid of such projects.
The shipyard has more than half a century of experience and is actively practicing aluminum construction. This maximizes productivity and efficiency with a compact, lightweight and highly durable design. Secondly, the ability to design and install complex systems in a limited enclosure space, which gives the owner more comfort.
Now the yacht is actively passing the latest tests and sea trials. PHI delivery is scheduled for later this year. In addition, the vessel will have a 36 meter shadow boat, designed by the same design team and built at Alia Yachts.
