Textron unveils new TSUNAMI family of maritime autonomous drones

The American corporation Textron Systems announced the release of a family of multi-purpose autonomous marine surface vehicles Tsunami vessels created for the US Department of Defense and its allies. This is stated in the press release of the company.
Textron describes Tsunami drones as a low-cost, rapidly deployable solution that combines the company’s more than 60 years of experience in the multi-role autonomous vehicle industry with the capabilities of the US commercial shipbuilding industry.
It is reported that Tsunami marine drones are based on the boats of Brunswick Corporation (a leader in the region solutions for pleasure boats and propulsion systems) and equipped with gasoline engines for simplification logistics The control system is taken from the Common Unmanned Surface Vehicle (CUSV) family of surface drones, as well developed by Textron.
The family includes three models of drones with a length of 7.3 meters, 7.6 meters and 8.5 meters. The declared cargo capacity of unmanned boats is 453.6 kg, and the range varies from 600 to 1000 nautical miles.
“Textron Systems understands how to design, integrate, deploy and support autonomous systems in air, land and sea, because we are unique in this,” said David Phillips, senior vice president for air, land and sea systems.
As a reminder, a number of NATO countries are developing new naval concepts based on naval drones to repel attacks by enemy ships and prevent enemies from entering allied waters.
