Feadship 46 м M/Y «Como»
Exclusive lightweight aluminum body, unparalleled architecture, amazing panoramic windows, a galaxy of outstanding designers and a series of prestigious awards – all this belongs to the yacht «Como», one of the most unusual projects of the Dutch shipyard Feadship.
In the history of the company Feadship was a lot of very interesting projects, many of which were based solely on the individual order, and not always even journalists yachting publications succeeded in the real world to appreciate some of the boat created for famous personalities. In the Netherlands, traditionally built with an emphasis on high-tech, but when the customer himself requires a completely custom design solutions and is ready to experiment – the world represent a completely new idea with inimitable architecture.
The idea of creating such a lavish yacht owned by an experienced New Zealand yachtsmen who had previously ordered the original sailing yachts in their homeland. Sharing innovative designs with the famous naval architecture studio Dubois Naval Architects, and inviting interior styling for a British company Redman Whiteley Dixon, at the facilities of Feadship built «Como» – a unique example of real implementation of innovative concept of total glass superstructure.
On the reputation of the members of the project says the eloquent fact that the prestigious international award «Como» started getting back in the past year and continues to the present. Thus, the exhibition Show Boats Design Awards 46-meter hull Dutch shipyard has won in all three categories in which the boat and participate.
Interestingly, each nomination allows detailed characterization of the yacht. Yacht won the first prize for outstanding achievements in the development of naval architecture, sponsored by famous companies Dubois Naval Architects. Team studio was shown a bright example of the beauty of the external forms and effectiveness of seaworthiness. Provided the right choice of basic body proportions, beauty study decks and wonderful colors in the class of yachts with tonnage not exceeding 500 GT. Further, the jury noted the impressive design of the interior space. The third award was given directly to the owner and inspirer of the project for the proposed construction of an innovative concept in terms of yacht striving for perfection.
Architecture yacht has become the embodiment of non-standard preferences of its owner. Being an avid race car driver, he proposed to borrow some of the technical solutions from the world of sports cars while creating construction semi-displacement hull and superstructure. This led to the creation of a modern powerful bow with smooth contours. Superstructure yacht in sports biased towards the stern, and a streamlined cockpit visibility endowed with an excellent racing car. Unlike most built Feadship superyacht endowed with 4 or 5 decks, «Como» had only two very spacious deck, the navigating bridge and at an intermediate level sandek. The bridge yacht is slightly recessed into the design of the superstructure of the main deck, which once again highlights its excellent aerodynamic shape and excellent kinetic design. The control panel is equipped with multi-function display, which displays the current state of all vital systems and a global information support. We should also mention the unique visibility.
Sandek designed as a spacious area with a wide rear platform for sunbathing. The main innovation was the idea of protection from the weather outdoor lounge with glass panels, hidden in special under-deck spaces. Together with the hardtop, this approach allows the use of sandek in different seasons. Do not forget naval architects to allocate space for an external control station.
Interior styling made by the British company Redman Whiteley Dixon. The task was not entirely trivial. Due to the generous use of glass elements of the superstructure yacht designers had to offer many custom solutions for the arrangement of stairways, piping and technical facilities, with the aim of creating a modern and sophisticated atmosphere and the “packaging” of much-needed communications and systems for decorative elements.
Conceptually, the planning scheme can be described as “flowing fabric”. The idea was to provide the maximum degree of flexibility in the interior and allow a few minutes to convert informal corners of space in the area for business meetings.
On the main deck is presented question-Torn interior, the design of which is dominated by a modern light style. Comfortable central living room offers a circular arrangement of the guests at a large semicircular sofa and easy chairs. Their snow-white interior is interesting to contrast with the darker shade frame furniture and wall panels. The central element of the composition table is endowed with top made of ultra-thin transparent glass. Interior light enlivens the surface of the floor covering, wide stainless steel inserts, a beautiful chandelier and large windows.
Further, in the immediate vicinity of the cabin is a cozy dining area, designed for 8-10 guest seats. It is sustained in the same style decisions that cabin yacht. Here you can see the natural tissue, milk Italian marble, oak and brushed lacquered wood Makassar. Kind of a border zone has become a large L-shaped bar, which occupies part of the outer feed space.
Presented vast apartments, the area of the owner fully prepared for the transition duration in stand-alone mode. Soft colors with white, silver and light beige shades promotes rapid relaxation and create a main feature of the apartment – very unique glazing. It is not just about the big windows, but a real transparent panels, offering spectacular sea view. Another unusual step was the decision to make transparent the bulwark just opposite the apartment of the owner: the high board ensures safety and does not obstruct your view from almost any area of apartments.

Designed in the same style decision, they provide uncommon sense of freedom, plenty of sunshine and comfort. To ensure a high level of modern comfort engineering systems «Como» they were based on the latest developments of sound absorption and vibration reduction.
