RIVA 56 ‘RIVALE. BIRTH OF A NEW STAR

Share:

The creations of this renowned Italian shipyard have often been the “stars” of masterpieces of world cinema, for example, about the adventures of James Bond or other similar films. A lot of Hollywood stars operate Riva yachts and outside the set. But this boat has become special for many reasons. Riva 56’Rivale – a modern interpretation of the legendary boats with incredible design and careful attitude to their history.

Previously, Riva boats could be distinguished by a characteristic mahogany body and maple inserts, a rapid profile and hovering around the spirit of the “golden age” of civilization. Redwood gave way to developments in the field of modern materials and molding, but the performing skills remained unchanged.
The exterior of the new Riva 56 ‘Rivale “is written” with perfect lines, free from the interference of small details. Forward-looking wedges of air intakes and contrasting inserts of tinted glass even more smooth out the profile of the yacht. Like filmmakers, designers from Officina Italiana Design can not be denied the ability to create masterpieces. 56 ‘Rivale looks as if he is preparing to take on board a new James Bond, who is about to jump acrobatically to the helm, escaping from the chase, or jumps from some bridge to her deck.
Where is the classic, and where new techniques Riva – can not be seen immediately. Let the materials and have changed, not to mention the colors, Riva can still be recognized by a noble profile. From its predecessor Rivale 52 ‘, the yacht received a body type – “deep V” and a bow with an inclined stem, but everything else, including portholes, a bathing platform and other technical features-is fundamentally new.

The first innovation can be encountered by stepping on board. When the bathing platform descends to the water level, it thereby opens additional steps in the hull, providing the most convenient access to the water and back to the deck. The entire assembly is lifted by an electric drive and also with its help opens the garage where the tender Williams 325 is stored – large enough for this size of the yacht.
Soft furniture in the cockpit is decorated with Mambo Arctic fabric, specially created for Riva 56 ‘Rivale. Two corner lounge are located on the port side, one of them is slightly elevated and is on a kind of podium. Another sofa smoothly turns into the sunpad at the stern, forming a large zone of the solarium. The teak table in the unfolded state unites all this space in a fairly spacious dining room. On the starboard side is a wet bar with a grill and barbecue – attributes, without which a real rest is unthinkable, whether on the water or on land. The fabric bimini canopy protects the sun and rain and rises above this zone with a single click on the button. The second solarium is in front of the bridge on the nose of the main deck.

Housing 56 ‘Rivale width of 4.5 meters allowed to create an incredibly spacious master cabin with full-length bathroom. Its finish uses dark and light leather, steel, varnished wood of different shades. The VIP cabin is located in the bow of the boat, therefore it has a characteristic tapering shape. The mirror head of the bed visually expands it and the space does not seem small. Bedside tables with leather top have also acquired an unusual triangular shape due to the shape of the room.

Another cabin with two Pullman beds and a small toilet is designed for the crew, but the level of its finish allows you to take on board two more guests if the boat management function is taken over, for example, by the owner. Even the fact that the engine room is nearby can not spoil the rest. After all, noise and vibration isolation issues do not arise when leaving the sea at Riva 56 ‘Rivale, so guests can enjoy a comfortable sea cruise.

The mixture of modern and retro is more noticeable inside than outside. Officina Italiana Design managed to “get in the nerve” of modern trends. Due to the abundance of light colors and mirror walls, inside the 56 ‘Rivale there is a feeling that you are on board a larger yacht. Mirror panels expand the space, and in combination with dark wood, leather and mahogany, they create the very interaction of textures, which is considered a visiting card of Riva.

Descending the steps to the lower deck, you find yourself in a comfortable lower cabin. A large corner sofa bends around the coffee table, which absorbs all kinds of textures: fabric, steel, lacquer, black leather. The wooden base of the sofa, girded with steel molding, and also the pouf represent additional storage systems. Boxes with leather door handles are also available under the ceiling. The kitchen compartment does not immediately give out its purpose. The sink, stove and work surface are hidden under the folding top, and the refrigerator and freezer are located behind the black door under the plasma TV. This door also hides the compartment for glasses, bottles and dishes. From the salon there is access to the bathroom with amenities that guests of the yacht can use during the day.

In the sea 56 ‘Rivale behaves simply without fault. Quickly responds to the levers and obediently obeys the helm. Even when driving at a considerable speed, the feeling of complete control of the vessel remains. With two MAN engines of 1,000 hp, which is equipped with Riva in the standard version, the yacht develops a maximum speed of 35 knots. With more powerful engines of 1,200 horsepower overcome the mark of about 38-40 knots. The radar arch of a streamlined form does not degrade aerodynamics and fulfills its role by adding an exterior element. The control panel with modern navigation systems and monitors is equipped with a convenient instrument panel. The steering wheel is also trimmed with Mambo Arctic cloth, in the tone of the furniture.
