Clip Mouse – a device that replaces a computer mouse

In Germany, a unique gadget called the Clip Mouse was announced. This is a portable device that is fixed on the fingers and functions like a computer mouse without the need for direct
surface contact. The project was launched on the Kickstarter platform in order to raise funding for mass production.
The Clip Mouse, which looks like a U-shaped pin, is attached to the user’s index and middle fingers. The built-in accelerometer and gyroscope track the movements of the hand, and the Clip Mouse transmits this data to a PC or laptop connected via Bluetooth. Since neither a laser nor any optical components, the device does not need to be placed on a perfectly flat and uniform surface such as
special rug.
The difference between a standard mouse and a Clip mouse is palpable. It lies in its special technology: instead of to rely on an optical or laser sensor, the Clip mouse uses a gyroscope module similar to those which are used in virtual reality control devices. Under the user’s fingers is built-in touchpad that tracks style, gesture direction, and finger pressure.
The gyroscope module is precisely engineered to detect horizontal motion with a thoughtful algorithm. As a result, all other hand movements are ignored, providing an intuitive and comfortable user interface.

While the fingers click on the built-in touchscreens. However, if the user needs to use their hand for other actions, for example, for typing or for interacting with the world outside of the computer peripheral, it can temporarily disable the mouse so that it does not react to these movements. To do this, press the button at the base of the U, located near the thumb. The same tactile button allows you to center the cursor if you for some reason it got “lost” or stuck in some part of the screen. The manufacturer claims that the wireless Clip Mouse lasts up to 50 hours on a single charge. Its autonomy is ensured by a built-in lithium-ion battery that charges via a standard USB Type-C connector.
Clip Mouse is currently available for purchase on Kickstarter for €59.
