FERRETTI 550: THE REINCARNATION OF STYLE
Despite its relatively small size, the 17-meter vessel is, without exaggeration, a superyacht
A huge U-shaped sofa on the starboard side is located around a black glass table that reflects streaks of light on the ceiling. Two symmetrical seats and a retractable plasma panel on the left balance the composition. The light skin of sofas and ceiling panels is contrasted with teak facades. Dark gray horizontal accents, a continuous row of windows covered with long blinds, a zebra of jumping ceiling light panels, hammer out the frantic rhythm of a modern metropolis.
The way to the lower deck is to the right of the control post. The layout of this level suggests two options. The so-called traditional layout implies the presence of three cabins: a master, a VIP cabin and one guest cabin with separate bathrooms. Another layout option is the owner’s apartment, one guest cabin and salon. As expected, the master cabin is located in the widest part of the hull to use its maximum parameters. As a result, the owner’s apartment turned out to be so spacious that there was enough space even for a mini-lounge for two.
There are also teak panels, dynamic dark gray accents, ceiling lighting in the form of a zebra and even a wide plasma screen, but the range of the cabin is noticeably less contrasting. Accordingly, its rhythm is much softer compared to public space.
Another winning difference is the shape of the flybridge. More precisely, its length. Today, it moves noticeably further back, as if floating in the air, and completely covers the aft part of the main deck, which not only protects from the rays of the bright sun, but also gives the profile of the yacht a cheeky, cheeky look. Again, it was not without new thinking in ship architecture. For those who are not afraid of tanning, but on the contrary welcome it, there are a lot of comfortable outdoor areas on board to enjoy sunbathing.
Ferretti 550 – what is called – a walk-around yacht. Its design includes passages along the sides that connect the bow part of the deck with the aft part. The cockpit is separated from the salon by sliding glass doors shining with chrome frames. Visually, this division is almost imperceptible, because the transparent sashes create the illusion of an open space. From certain points in front of the cabin, the aft deck is not visible at all. The view opens to the waves lapping directly behind the glass, which creates a total feeling of unity with the sea element. The interior of the Ferretti 550 is a world of visual and tactile pleasure, the epicenter of which is the main salon.
In the bow part of the lower deck, there are VIP apartments, which are almost in no way inferior to the owner’s cabin. A large double bed, a wardrobe, a dressing table with a pouf and a lot of lockers are at guests’ disposal. In one of the layout options, the wardrobe is replaced by a separate bathroom. A guest cabin with two berths is located on the port side. The new challenges faced by superyacht manufacturers are conquering the Asian market. To successfully solve this task, the boat must differ from past analogues in about the same way that Japanese cars differ from American ones. First of all, economy and reliability. A similar trend can be observed in shipbuilding. Ferretti Group and Zuccon International Project specialists found a solution in the balance. Special attention was paid to weight distribution on the new vessel. The result is a more streamlined hull, efficient deck layout and engine room layout. All this allows to improve hydrodynamics, enabling the use of even small economic engines without compromising seaworthiness. Small engines with a capacity of 715 liters are installed on the ship. with. anyone who can accelerate the yacht to a maximum speed of 30 knots. A bow thruster is a standard option.
